How it works

Three steps in. Nothing left behind.

Globetween is deliberately simple: a temporary room, a language choice per person, and live translation in both directions. Here is the whole thing, including the parts most tools gloss over.

  1. 01

Start a room, pick your language

One tap creates a temporary room with a timer — an hour on Free, up to 7 days on Business. You pick the language you want to read and write in; nobody else’s choice affects yours.

  2. 02

Share the link or QR code

Every room has a link and a QR code. Guests open it in their browser, pick their own language on the way in, and they’re in — no app store, no account, no sign-up.

  3. 03

Everyone reads in their own language

You write naturally. Each participant sees every message in the language they chose, with the original underneath. Up to 15 people can read the same conversation in different languages at once.

  4. 04

The room cleans up after itself

When the timer runs out — or the host ends the chat — messages and translations are deleted automatically, normally within 24 hours of expiry. There is no archive to manage and no history to leak.

The guest side

What guests see

A language picker, then a chat

Scanning the QR opens a plain browser page: choose your language, type your name if you want, start talking. It works on any modern phone.

Originals stay visible

Every translated message shows the original text underneath it — nothing is hidden, and anyone bilingual can sanity-check the translation.

Honest notices

If the host turns on transcript saving (Business only), everyone in the room sees a persistent notice. No silent recording.

Private by design

Gone when it’s over.

Rooms clean up after themselves

Every room has a timer. When it runs out — or the host ends the chat — messages and translations are deleted automatically, normally within 24 hours of expiry.

No account, no trail for guests

Guests join with a link and a language choice. No email, no password, no profile left behind.

We keep counters, not conversations

Usage metering stores numbers — how many translations, never what was said. Saved transcripts exist only on Business rooms, only when the host turns them on, and guests see a notice when it’s active.

Nothing stored by default · Counters, not conversations

Questions

Asked and answered.

Does the other person need to install Globetween?

No — nobody installs anything. Rooms run in the browser on both sides. The host taps “Start a room” on the website; guests open a link or scan a QR code.

Does Globetween work on a laptop or desktop?

Yes. Rooms are ordinary web pages, so a front desk can run the conversation on a computer while the guest uses their phone.

Can I speak instead of typing?

Yes — rooms support voice dictation: hold the microphone button, speak, and your words are transcribed into the composer before sending. Audio is transcribed and discarded, not stored.

How good are the translations?

Globetween uses modern AI translation models suited to practical, conversational language. Originals are always shown alongside translations. It is a communication aid, not a certified interpreter — don’t rely on it for medical, legal, or emergency decisions.

The fastest way to understand it is to use it.
